Pendulum Magazine X The Vancouver Club: Cocktail Hour at 89 Smithe

This will be THE tasting event to kickoff your festive season. Pendulum Magazine's Cocktail Hour at 89 Smithe will feature The Vancouver Club's Mixologist Hossam Elshafie, who brings us a handcrafted cocktail named 'Lo Scintillio' (The Sparkle), using his secret ingredient - homemade spiced limoncello made from the finest grain spirits and organic lemon zests. The Limoncello is then spiced and infused with herbs to round out the flavour profile. Topped with bubbly Prosecco and a spritz of soda, this cocktail whisks you away to the island of Capri with a cocktail style originating in Northern Italy during the 19th century.

This zesty creation will be paired with a 3-bite canapés menu designed by Top Chef Canada Season 6 competitor Chef Felix Zhou. Needless to say, as per usual, we have surprise festive desserts to end your tasting experience on a sweet note.

Each tasting experience is 30 minutes.

About Chef Felix Zhou

Felix Zhou honed his skills at a number of acclaimed restaurants both locally and internationally before embarking on his first solo foray at Heritage Asian Eatery. Since opening in the fall of 2016, Heritage Asian Eatery has been recognized in numerous local and international publications, including The New York Times, National Geographic, New Weekly (China), The Globe and Mail, Vancouver Sun and Montecristo. Felix has recently left Heritage Asian Eatery to reflect and research before settling into his next venture. Felix competed on Top Chef Canada season 6 and 1 season of The Fire Masters on The Food Network.

About Hossam Elshafie

After working in a some of the best bars in Toronto, including Bar Raval and D Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel, Hossam moved to Vancouver to further enhance his cocktail knowledge. Hossam worked at a number of cocktail bars before joining the Vancouver Club. He is a two-time winner of the All-Star Cocktail Competition, is experienced in hosting cocktail presentations and workshops, and has helped organize the renowned Science of Cocktails event that takes place at the Science World each year.
